HISTORY

HOMO-SANGUINEOUS. "Sanguine" A human evolution. A species that has branched off the homo-sapien line. The anatomy of one who is considered a "sanguine" contains an extra heart along with larger, more effective organs. Everything inside a sanguine's body operates at a more effective level than the average human. Because of this, sanguines have enhanced speed, intelligence and muscle development. They are almost always attractive and lean, possessing an incredible strength. To survive, a sanguine must consume blood at least once a day. This can be done through a blood transfusion. 2023 Across the globe, infants were being monitored. These were the first of the new human-species. Very many of these infants died, for a time no one understood why. Eventually it would be discovered, to the dismay of the planet, that this new species needed extra blood in order to survive, but not before the lack of knowledge claimed very many lives. Once these infants were cared for with the help of daily blood transfusions they were allowed to go home, however they were to be studied very closely. By the end of the year, 3,197 children were documented as a homo-sanguineous; something more than human. The world took to calling them the sanguines. Some called them vampires, but that was a very offensive term when dealing with this new species. 2035-2042 Life carried on like normal. For a brief time people feared that this new species of human would attempt to drink the world dry of its blood. But it was apparent that, with the help of blood transfusions, these children were harmless. It was brought to the world's attention how much greater in everything that this new species was versus the average human. They were praised. Some even declared that the sanguines were the superior species. In this year, most sanguines entered their teens. Along with teenage angst they began to experience an unquenchable hunger. Already irritable, these teens lashed out at the world. They claimed very many lives to satiate their hunger. However, not all sanguinekind gave in to their need. They, instead, learned how to control their hunger. Those who did not were labeled as vampires. They were wild, most ran away from their homes. Soon it was an all out war between humans and vampires. Hunters emerged. These hunters were specially trained in dealing with these wild sanguines. It was made legal to kill a sanguine if he or she were trying to kill you, however this law was abused. Many docile sanguines were killed in the name of false-self defense. Because of this, even the sanguine who had learned to control their thirst began to kill human-beings in order to protect themselves. Human couples were told if their fetuses showed any sign of becoming homo-sanguineous the pregnancy would be terminated, even if they wanted to keep the child. These laws were worldwide, it seemed. 2048 War continued, the humans were effectively eradicating sanguinekind. They sought to destroy the sanguines completely. They thought wiping them from the Earth was the the only way to keep themselves safe. A new group emerged. It was comprised of humans and sanguines. This group never named itself, therefore it was generically called the Pro-Homo-Sanguineous Movement, from here on referred to as PHSM. This group dedicated itself to bringing peace to the world by creating a way for the sanguines to coexists with humans. When they first surfaced most thought they were a joke. Not even the sanguines wanted anything to do with them. 2050-2052 The PHSM had it's first victory. The president of the United States of America decided to hear the global group out. Many thought this had more to do with his own daughter being a sanguine, which the government did much to hide this from the world. Initially the group wanted simple facilities to be constructed, somewhere that sanguines could learn to control their hunger. This did not go over well with the rest of the country, however. Further changes needed to be made to this plan. They offered up a new plan of action in the year 2051. Cities would be walled off from the rest of the country. Sanguines would be forced to live inside these enclosed cities. There, camps would also be created. These camps are very much prison-like, but instead of calling it a prison it is was decided more pleasant to call it a camp. Inside these camps blood-crazed sanguines (or vampires) would learn how to control their hunger and then be released into the enclosed city to live out their lives. This plan was put to use in 2052. PRESENT DAY The year is 2062. It has been ten years since the walls went up to keep the sanguines safe from the world and the world safe from their hunger. There are still vampires running rampant throughout the world, however the number of unattended sanguines is very small. Life inside the small enclosed cities seems nice enough. Some of the sanguines seem at ease with the arrangement, some feel even more resentful towards humankind. Since the PHSM succeeded in ending the war in the USA they have successfully quelled wars in every country, each country developing a system that would help the sanguines in a way that did not involve killing them.
